WordPress Your Content Management System (CMS)

CMS stands for Content Management System

CMS  is a way for the average person to create and manage a website. WordPress is more than a way to blog. It is the best way to have any type of website you desire.

Some of the biggest companies in the world use WordPress for their serious projects; Ebay, Yahoo, GE, CNN, Ford, Sony and Samsung, to name a few.

By nature, WordPress is very powerful. It can be as complex or as simple as you wish.

What can WordPress do for you? Or should that be… what you can do with WordPress

Marketing for Local Business

Marketing for local business has changed in recent years.  It use to be that you could put an ad in a local phone book and a couple of ads in a newspaper now and again… and that would be quite enough. Well…. your local phone book just doesn’t cut it anymore for effective long term marketing.

According to a study conducted by Pew Internet & American Life Project, 51 percent of U.S. Adults get their information about local businesses from the internet.  Newspapers, word-of-mouth and television all ranked higher than the yellow pages in your phone book.

Now with those stats, you would think that all local businesses would quickly jump on the internet bandwagon; but no…. up to half of of them don’t have a website, according to Statistic Brain.

Some businesses feel that if they have a Facebook Fan Page…that is enough.  Read More→

Slow Down The Bounce Rate | Engage Your WordPress Readers

Keeping your WordPress website updated increases your security as well as the function of your site.  Yes, I know it seems that updates are required a little too often, but that’s because users, like you and me, find bugs or problems and pass that information on to Automattic, where the WordPress team reviews issues and makes the corrections.

This is just one of the advantages of WordPress being an open source format.  It allows everyone to help make it better and better…. which of course… is great for all of us.

Along with keeping the back end of your site updated, it’s good to review the front end of your site and consider keeping it fresh also.  Of course, that doesn’t mean you need to update it as frequently as your WordPress updates but, a good yearly review would be a great idea.

Trends and colors change.  It hasn’t been too long ago that front pages were pretty static looking.  Now, many exciting features are available.  There is hardly an updated website that does not include a slider, a carousel or some other moving feature on the front page to draw attention.  Lots of  images are a must.

With a sharp eye for marketing for small businesses, my attention often goes to how they are maximizing their on line presence. Are they taking advantage of SEO? Are they even using SEO? Are they using social media? How about SEO in their social media?

Recently we had the opportunity to attend the Utah Big Business Expo in Orem, Utah. Although our purpose was to support Dave of Milagros Mexican Restaurant (and get a free lunch), I couldn’t help noticing how may companies were offering SEO services.

It is no wonder when you consider this infographic from one of our favorite SEO companies…SEO.com. (a Utah Company) Read More→

Use Images To Grab Attention To Your Utah Business

Recall your favorite restaurant. Now your favorite food. Next recall your favorite piece of clothing. If you are like most people, you saw a picture of your favorite things.

There is no doubt, we live in a visual world. No matter where you go you see someone trying to catch your attention.
