Mobile Phone Marketing for Local Business

Smartphones are here to stay… so mobile phone marketing gives local business a huge business opportunity.  In a crowd…. you generally will observe that most folks are not talking on the phone but are either texting or looking up information on the internet.

Here are a few mobile phone marketing suggestions we give our Utah Web Design clients:

Should I have a customized mobile site built?

Yes… by all means…. yes!.  The days of just of depending upon your online website to capture your reader’s attention are over.  Easy access and viewing is want your viewer is expecting.  They don’t want to move the site around and click on a dozen pages to find out simple things like, “Where are you located?”  or  “What is your phone number.”

You need to have a separate, customized site that is built just for people “on the go” who what quick and solid information.   If they want detailed information, on who you are and all you have to offer etc, they will visit your online website.

Along with an online site and a mobile site,  you may want to consider a site for a Tablet.  They are becoming increasingly popular.  There is not as much information as you have on your online site but it’s not as condensed as the mobile website.  If you are trying to decide which one to have built first… choose “Mobile.” Read More→

Local Business Marketing Online

There is more to local business marketing online than just merely putting up a well designed website.  Of course, good web design is important too… but you can’t put on the brakes just yet if you are looking for your website to generate leads or business.

As a Utah web design team we like to give our clients a few local marketing tips to keep in mind even before their website is up and running.

1.  Keywords:  You need to do an extensive keyword search to find the words or phrases that your customer would explore in trying to locate your service or product.  Keywords are especially important when you are writing an article in your blog.  Place keywords in your title, in the content of your post.

Use a good variation of similar or supporting keywords so your article flows naturally.  The search engines frown on keyword stuffing…(repeating the same keyword or phrase over and over again.) Use keywords specific your local geographical area (your state and city.)  Example:  Read More→

Marketing for Local Business

Marketing for local business has changed in recent years.  It use to be that you could put an ad in a local phone book and a couple of ads in a newspaper now and again… and that would be quite enough. Well…. your local phone book just doesn’t cut it anymore for effective long term marketing.

According to a study conducted by Pew Internet & American Life Project, 51 percent of U.S. Adults get their information about local businesses from the internet.  Newspapers, word-of-mouth and television all ranked higher than the yellow pages in your phone book.

Now with those stats, you would think that all local businesses would quickly jump on the internet bandwagon; but no…. up to half of of them don’t have a website, according to Statistic Brain.

Some businesses feel that if they have a Facebook Fan Page…that is enough.  Read More→

Marketing Tips For Small Businesses

Today WebPress Utah is going to offer you a couple of pivotal marketing tips for small businesses

Know What Your Customers Want and Need

1.  A small business really has a greater marketing opportunity than a global one because it has the chance to really know and understand the dynamics of what their local customers want and need.  That is, if they have the “eyes to see” and the “ears to hear.”

Motivational speaker, Zig Ziggler, has said, “You can get anything you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want….”  Harry Browne, a master salesman said it another way,  “The secret of success is: Find out what other people want and show them how to get it.”   He said that the secret is to separate yourself from your wants and needs and make sure what you’re offering is what people really want… then… give it to them.

Any small business that put this principle to work will be miles ahead of their competitors who don’t take the time to do their “homework.”

Are Small Business Owners Taking Advantage Of SEO?

With a sharp eye for marketing for small businesses, my attention often goes to how they are maximizing their on line presence. Are they taking advantage of SEO? Are they even using SEO? Are they using social media? How about SEO in their social media?

Recently we had the opportunity to attend the Utah Big Business Expo in Orem, Utah. Although our purpose was to support Dave of Milagros Mexican Restaurant (and get a free lunch), I couldn’t help noticing how may companies were offering SEO services.

It is no wonder when you consider this infographic from one of our favorite SEO companies…SEO.com. (a Utah Company) Read More→

On A Small Budget? How Do You Optimize Your Site?

How do you optimize your site when you are on a small budget? That question is answered by Google:

Matt Cutts, the head of Google’s Webspam team, posts YouTube videos as part of “Google’s WebMaster Tools.” The video’s are short and direct answers to common questions. As Utah web designers we like to refer our clients to the video’s as a reference for what we are teaching them.

In this video Matt was asked “How does someone begin to SEO their site on a small budget in an overwhelmed industry such as real estate?” Read More→

What is Inbound Marketing For Small Business?

What is inbound marketing? And what does it have to do with your small Utah business?

A term coined by Hubspot.com co-founder and CEO; “Inbound marketing is a marketing strategy that draws your customers to you.”

Although I had not heard of Inbound Marketing until earlier this year I knew exactly how it worked.

Instead of spending your advertising dollars on billboards and tv commercials that throw you name in front of a broad audience, you provide information your potential customers are looking for.

Instead of generating leads by cold calling or sending your sales forces to the local trade shows, you draw customers to you.

So how do you go about inbound marketing?

  • Having a website and blog for your business.
  • Social media.
  • Optimizing you place on the web.
  • Viral marketing.

A Blog – Content Marketing is the main ingredient for any Inbound Marketing plan. You give readers great information on your blog and they will seek you out. A blog engages your potential customers in the sales process. So adding blog to your website pulls the interest of those who are searching for you. Remember Google loves content and a blog will provide lots of new content.

For example: If you are a dentist, your blog would include information on dental health, repair and what is happening in your town. You become the go to guy when people in your area have questions about their teeth.

Social Media – I know…this one sounds scary and like a lot of work. First of all social media is a pretty broad term, and measuring the effects of social media can be a little elusive.

Because every business is different an effective social media plan would have to be custom tailored to your business.

Viral Marketing – The oldest form of marketing is still one of the most valid. Recommendations are still the way businesses grow. But it in times of instant communication bad word of mouth can destroy your business.

Getting good word out there and squashing the bad reports has a new medium…the Internet.

Do you know what is being said about your business?

Is Inbound Marketing for your small business?

  • Have you had an inkling that your yellow pages ads are not as affective as they were last year?
  • Have you found yourself spending more and more money for advertising with little results?
  • You use the Internet to find products or search for “how to information.”
  • You want to spend less on marketing but get bigger rewards.

This is no group more perfect for Inbound Marketing than small business. With a limited advertising budget, you can get more bang for your buck. You can be the person that people sitting down to their computer are looking for.

Check out these stats for your self.

You can see more slides from HubSpot.

Is your small business a candidate for an Inbound Marketing plan? We would be glad to help you get you plan together. As a Utah Web Design team we want to see Utah Business succeed! We would love to see people searching for your business and you controlling exactly what they see.
